Terms of use
Updated 8 September 2026. This is a translation for convenience. If the English and Finnish versions differ, the Finnish version applies.
1. Scope
These terms govern the Knuut service, available on the web and as a mobile app ("Service"), provided by Knuut Oy ("Knuut", "we"). The Service is subscribed to by an early childhood education provider ("Customer") under a separate agreement with Knuut ("Agreement"). You use the Service as the Customer's employee or as a child's guardian at the Customer's invitation ("User"). By using the Service you accept these terms. If the Agreement and these terms conflict, the Agreement prevails for the Customer.
2. Licence and Account
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable right to use the Service for the purposes set out in the Agreement. Your account, password and PIN are personal. You are responsible for all activity on your account and must notify us or the Customer immediately if you suspect it has been compromised. The Customer manages its users' permissions and may restrict or end your access at any time.
3. Guardians
As a guardian you see and manage only your own children's information, to the extent the Customer has decided. The Customer is responsible for the content and accuracy of children's data and for verifying guardianship. Questions about your child's data or care relationship are resolved with the Customer, not Knuut.
4. Acceptable Use
When using the Service you must not:
- share your credentials or impersonate another person;
- store or share content that is unlawful, offensive, misleading or infringes others' rights;
- use the Service for advertising, spam or any purpose unrelated to day-to-day childcare;
- circumvent the Service's security, interfere with its operation, place unreasonable load on it, or collect data automatically;
- copy, reverse engineer, modify or resell the Service or any part of it.
We may restrict or terminate your access immediately if you breach these terms.
5. Content and Data
Content you store in the Service (messages, photos, files, data) remains yours or the Customer's. You grant Knuut the right to store, process, copy and display it to the extent required to provide the Service. The Customer is responsible for having the right to store everything it enters into the Service.
Knuut may derive anonymised and aggregated data from use of the Service, from which no individual, child or Customer can be identified, and use it without restriction for statistics, developing the Service, improving features and models, and in its business. Processing of personal data is described in the privacy policy.
6. Intellectual Property
The Service, its source code, design, trademarks and all related rights belong to Knuut. These terms transfer no rights to you other than the licence to use the Service. We may freely use any feedback or suggestions you give us without compensation.
7. References
Knuut may use the Customer's name and logo as a reference in its marketing and on its website, unless the Customer objects in writing.
8. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may at any time change, suspend or discontinue the Service or its features and carry out maintenance. We may change these terms by publishing an updated version on this page and updating the date above. By continuing to use the Service you accept the updated terms.
9. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is". We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation and are not responsible for the content of data stored in the Service. Knuut is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, such as loss of revenue or data. Knuut's total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the fees paid by the Customer for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim. These limitations do not apply to damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, or to liability under mandatory law, including guardians' rights under consumer protection law.
10. Term
These terms apply for as long as you have an account in the Service. Your access ends when the Customer or Knuut removes your account or the Agreement ends. Sections 5–7, 9 and 11 survive termination.
11. General
You may not assign your rights under these terms. Knuut may assign these terms and the Agreement to a group company or in connection with a business transfer without separate consent. If any provision is found invalid, the rest remain in force. These terms are governed by Finnish law. Disputes are settled in the District Court of Helsinki. A guardian acting as a consumer may also refer a dispute to the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board.
